Match Reports - Saturday 8th October 2005
Published: 10/10/2005
Premier League - Patrick Pace 0 Ilai Zammit Marmara’ 0
Both players shared the points at the final whistle. They both didn’t perform that extra bit to claim the win. The match was played mostly in midfield with very little chances of score from both sides. Patrick started the match better than Ilai piling up some pressure in the beginning of the match. In the second half it was Ilai’s turn to benefit from most of the possession without ever being really dangerous after passing three quarters of the pitch. Comments from spectators after the match said that this was a game of chess and not subbuteo!
Premier League – Stefan Pace 1 Matthew Sapiano 0
Stefan earned his first three points of the season playing for most of the time better than his opponent. Compliments have to be made though to Matthew for his performance managing to control Stefan’s attack in many occasions. The goal came in the middle of the first half after a fast break from Stefan to arrive alone in front of goal and shooting perfectly to leave the keeper with no chance to save the shot. Matthew played the counter attack game throughout the second half creating two chances were he could have scored the equalizer. Matthew’s performances have definitely improved. If his level remains as is, in the second round we might see a few surprises from his side.
Premier League – Stefan Pace 2 Joseph Bugeja 0
Stefan won his second match to go 2nd in table after a deserved win against Joseph Bugeja. It was Joseph’s first match after several years of not playing the sport. He went for the match without ever really expecting anything. Stefan controlled the match for most of the game and was never in great difficulty of securing the three points. Joseph’s defense played relatively well, it’s his attack that has to improve for him to earn his first points of the season. Stefan scored a goal in each half wasting another couple of scoring opportunities throughout the match which would have closed the match earlier.
Premier League – Kenneth Attard 3 Joseph Bugeja 1
There were no surprises in this match when in-form Kenneth Attard beat Joseph Bugeja. With this win Kenneth lies first in the league still unbeaten after 3 games. Joseph needs to play many more matches to get used to the game once again. His only objective at this stage is to get back in form as he once was to be ready for the 2nd round of the league.
Junior League – Matthew Pace 2 Darren Bezzina 0
After last weeks win in the last seconds of the match Darren had to surrender to his opposition Matthew Pace losing his first match of the season. It was Matthew’s first official match and came out brilliantly earning a deserved win to share the top position in the league with Darren.
