2005 started off on an excellent note, finding a new premises after a year in which the club did not have an official premises were to organise its competitions. An agreement was finalised with the Malta Basketball Association which consisted in a room being completed offered for our competitions at the Sports Pavillion at Ta' Qali.
It was not easy for the club to get back on track after a year of inactivity. The committee at the time decided to work at a slow but constant pace for the club to re-gain interest and popularity as it once was enjoying. The Malta Table Football Sports Association helped the club by kindly lending 2 tables on which to organise the competitions.
In the beginning of summer 2005 the committee met up and set a target which was to start season 05/06 with all the competitions as it previously used to organise. A lot of hard work and time were the key elements for this plan to become reality.
A lot of work was made to try and obtain a sponsor, and fortunately for the club an agreement was reached with Paul Target who offered the club two new tables on which to organise the competitions. The next step was to clean the pitches which were still in a bad condition after the tragic incident were the club's premises had drowned with all the furniture in it. This was not an easy task to do, but fortunately was a successfull one.
Work was now necessary to increase the number of members affiliated to the club. A problem which was analysed by the club's previous experiences was that not enough effort was made to obtain new players into the game. It was concluded that for the club to be successfull new blood had to be introduced which would bring new enthusiasm. By the end of summer the club had signed 3 young players all under the age of 12. This looked promising and gave hope to continue working on what was started.
A website was published to reach out to all the table football enthusiasts in the world and inform them on what is happening at the club. The website is also intended to reach the club's members to inform them on the latest and as a reference for fixtures, results and standings, throughout the season.
By the end of summer the premises was completely ready for competitions to be held. It was just the period when the club usually organises the summer cup which is seen as a pre-season to get back in-form from the summer break. Therefore it was agreed that once again this competition would be organised. A total of 11 players took part in this competition and it looked promising seeing that the club had to started off from scratch.
Some good quality matches were played in this tournament which increased everyone's enthusiasm for the start of the season. The last thing the committee had to work on before the start of the season was to try and increase the number of members taking part in the competitions. It was concluded that the new players play in a division of their own as the difference in level was too much. For the start of the season the club had 9 players in the Premier and 5 players in the Junior division. The number of players in the Premier was satisfactory as 8-10 players in the Premier is an ideal number with which to organise a league throughout the season.
After the first stage of the season, 3 new junior players were acquired to make a total of 8 players in the Junior division, which also became a satisfactory number with which to organise a league throughout the season.
2005 definately ended with a high after the Christmas Cup which was organised in the month of December. This competition was a great success with some high level matches and intense competition between the players.
The atmosphere that currently is present at the club looks very promising for the future. Everything the committee had worked on went according to plan and now the club has a total of 17 players and moving very strongly. Lets hope that the club continues on what it has built and gets even stronger than what it currently is.
