Match Reports - Saturday 29nd October 2005
Published: 29/11/2005
Stefan Pace 0 Ilai Zammit Marmara 0 (HT 0-0)
This was a fair result between two of the top players of the season so far, which so far indicate that they will definitely be title contenders for this season. Both players shared possession but found it difficult to score as their main concern was not to concede the goal first. The 2 best defenses of the league were playing against each other and this definitely showed with the match ending goal-less. Stefan was slightly better in attack but with Ilai becoming famous for his goalkeeping abilities, any player would have found it hard to score.
Stefan Pace 4 Kenneth Attard 1 (HT 2-0)
A missed penalty from Kenneth with the score 2-0 for Stefan, was definitely the turning point of this match. Kenneth did manage to pull one back after Stefan being surprisingly two goals up very early in the match. Leading by two goals Stefan could now concentrate on his defense and operate on counter attacks which proved to be the best thing to do managing to score two superb goals from long distance. Although still very early this might have been the first step for Stefan to regain the title, with Kenneth needing to get back to his winning form if he wants to keep up the pace.
Patrick Pace 1 Mario Camilleri 2 (HT1-1)
A very good match who saw Mario clinching the winner with 47 seconds remaining on the clock. In the first half the game was very balanced with both players have their chances on goal. Mario opened the score but Patrick equalized with a fast move in the final second of the half. This goal brought some protests from Mario stating that Patrick didn’t tell the opponent and referee what he was going to do after he had produced a foul. Referee Stefan Pace kept control of the match and immediately tried to calm both players. The second half had its nervous moments but never really went out of hand. Mario managed to score the winner playing very well and deserving this win, creating many chances which were saved brilliantly by Patrick.
